Dianne’s Visit to Nuremberg – Largest Toy Fair in the WorldIn February of this year I attended the Nuremberg Toy Fair, the largest toy fair in the world. It is held over 6 days, in 12 halls of beautifully displayed product from all around the world. The whole town seems to get behind the fair, and this being the 60th anniversary even more so. Streets were lined with flags and balloons, and shop windows in town had toy displays even if they weren’t toy shops. Together with the snow on the streets it created a wonderful fairytale atmosphere. I found it fascinating looking at the myriad product ranges from around the globe and seeing a preview of what will be available here in NZ later this year. I loved all the new wooden product from Europe, wood is really having a resurgence at the moment. Some ranges such as Le Toy Van we will see in NZ but others unfortunately not, due to our weak dollar. |

Tolo – high quality baby toysThe Tolo stand in Nuremberg was of particular interest as I love their product. We have stocked Tolo for many years, it seems to be an ever growing range of good quality product and is suitable for babies and toddlers. John Langley the Tolo Sales Manager made us very welcome and spent considerable time showing us around their stand.

From now until the end of May, Mainly Toys will have 10% OFF all TOLO product (in-store sales only). |

NZ Designed Games – IQideasI was also pleased to see several NZ suppliers in Nuremberg and was particularly impressed with the IQideas stand that featured a range of NZ designed games. These games come highly recommended and all can be found at Mainly Toys. |
Here are just two of these games. Both The Amazing Moa Hunt and The Terrific Tuatara Trail have a NZ theme and are for 2-4 players, ages 8yrs up. |
